I am in a really creative place at the moment. Elements in my work are falling into place and I have really fallen in love with some of the pieces I have been working on. Emily is a bride I photographed last summer. When I was looking for the perfect photograph to take to the next level, I went straight to Emily. I feel like I have somehow come full circle. I remember my after school art class at Longfellow Elementary. Mrs. Mackey would open her class room after school for a painting class. The smell of tempera paint would fill the air. I would sketch out my scene on the heavy gray paper. I would carefully choose my colors and a comfortable brush and begin. At the end of class we would clean up and hang our work to dry. It would take several classes before I would finish my painting. I enjoyed those care free days. Taking my time and discovering, going in any direction I felt the paint would take me. Today my computer can be a can of paint or a crayon or chalk and no more tempera. I hope you enjoy Emily as much as I have. I hope to share more with you soon.
